Why do authors think that I will read their work if they tell me how bad it is in the summary? I'm mostly willing to try just about anything, when it comes to reading fic. I figure if I don't like it, I can always move on to another story or another website, but I will usually skip it in this case. I just don't get it. It's like advertising a product and saying "Hey this is really crap, but you should buy it anyway."

I love U2. They are my favorite band and yesterday, I bought tickets to see them in Chicago next summer. My mom likes them too, so she's going with me. I even talked her into general admission. It means we're going to be waiting in line for hours, but that's okay since it also means that we'll be as close to the stage as possible. Now all I have to do is wait until July 6th. That's a really long time. It's over half a year, 8 months, another whole semester of school and then some, or 243 days, however you want to look at it. LOL At least it gives me something to look forward to or it will if I can find a way to manage to not go crazy from the excitement before then. LOL

There's only one more thing I can think of to say about this:

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How could it be this hard?

I've been trying to write a response to the first promt that was posted over in the Kirk/McCoy Drabble comm, but I'm not having much luck. How could writing a fic that's only 100 words long be so difficult? I wrote it out and it was about 150 words. I tried to pare it down, but it was still too long.

Seriously! HOW COULD IT BE THIS HARD???

I haven't given up yet, but I may in the end. It's really not worth getting this stressed out over fanfiction.
Star Trek quote icon
I loved the new Star Trek movie, so for Halloween this year, I bought a Starfleet uniform like the ones they wore in the movie. I'm going to have to pretend I'm a guy, though. I tried on the Uhura dress and let's just say that's not gonna happen (unless it's next year after I've lost some more weight). I also got a phaser and a tricorder. Now all I have to do is figure out how to make the belt that the phaser and tricorder attach to actually fit me. I knew it would be way too small for me, considering the picture on the box they came in had a picture of not only a child, but a really tiny, skinny child. I still figured that it would be easier to modify that than to buy them seperately and have to put something together from scratch. I really hope that turns out to be the case.

And speaking of Star Trek, I don't know if anyone on my flist would be interested, but there's a new LJ comm that's just starting up, The Kirk/McCoy Drabble Community. It's for fic readers as well as writers. There's not much going on yet, just the mods asking for some writing prompt suggestions, but it started literally a couple of days ago, so if you're interested, do check it out.

Yay!! I exercised!!

And I even got up early to do it. I've been going to Weight Watchers and I've lost a little bit of weight, though not as much as I'd hoped for by now. I'm doing pretty well at eating better most of the time, but I still need to exercise more. I'm trying to make myself get up early to walk on the tredmill and today was a good start. I'm proud of myself for doing that because I'm definitely not a morning person at all. Now I just need to keep doing it!

Does anyone know if there are vids for the show The Mentalist? And if so, where can I find them? I looked, but my Google Fu has failed me. The only thing I found were video clips of episodes. I've recently gotten into this show and would like to see some vids, if I could.
Chuck: Nerdy and proud of it!
A while back I found some pictures on the internet of Zachary Quinto and Zachary Levi. I have a huge fangirl crush on both of these guys, so I made a wallpaper. I'm not sure how happy I am with it, but I worked on it for a while and never did get it to come out so that I really liked it, so this will have to do.

quantum leap
I was just over on the NBC website re-watching some second season episodes of Chuck and discovered that they have episodes of old tv shows, including Quantum Leap!!! I haven't seen that show in years, but I used to watch it all the time. It was such a good show. It says that the episodes will be available until next March, which is good. With work and school, I don't have a lot of spare time at the moment, but I'm sure I can find the time to watch them between now and then.

Sam and Al, OMG!!! Until I found out I can watch episodes again, I didn't even realize how much I still miss this show, even after all these years. SQUEEEEEEE!!!!!!!

I like Star Trek and popart, so I made these popart Star Trek wallpapers. I want to do one for each of the main cast members, but I haven't gotten around to finishing yet. These are the ones I've done so far.

And if anyone wants these full size, you can get there at this link. There sized for my monitor, 1024x768. They're pretty big and were doing weird things to my LJ layout.

Michigan ONTD Meet-up Recap and pictures

Weekend before last, some of the GQMF from the Michigan divison of [info]ontd_startrek got together for a meet up. It was a small group, but that didn't keep us from having lots of fun. It was me, [info]theboysgonehome, and [info]juniper200 and her mom. We had planned to get together for lunch, before heading to the Detroit Science Center to see the movie in IMAX and to take in the Star Trek exhibit that's currently there as well. If you want to know about lunch, you'll have to ask them. I missed it. I accidentally went to Canada instead. I already wrote about the experience in my journal and am to lazy to type everything out again, so I just scanned the pages. I have a tendency to use lots of colors and draw pictures when I journal, so hopefully it won't be too boring. :-) If you notice any blank spots on the journal pages, that's just where I took out real names. I don't mind my name on the internet, but I know some people don't like their real names used on the net, so I took them out. I also have pictures, which I'll put down below the recap.

And just as a warning: This post contains a crapload of pictures, and is therefore NOT dial-up friendly.

I tried to get the video to embed here at my journal, but the one side of it got cut off so it didn't work. If you follow the link, it will take you to both a streaming version and a downloadable version.

Need a place to upload my vid...

Does anyone know of somewhere I can upload a vid other than YouTube? I tried to put it up there, but it wouldn't work because of copyright. I have a place for people to download it from, but I'd like to have a streaming version of it too, if possible.

Has anyone heard any good jokes lately?

I could use a good laugh right about now.

I was just working on my latest vid, a Star Trek vid, and I finally made some progress. I was having a hard time with one part in particular. First I couldn't decide what clip to use and then I had trouble getting the timing right. I'm finally past that now and about half way done.

I'm just glad this is a short song. Windows Movie Maker is giving me trouble. Every time I edit a clip, I have to go back to the very beginning of the vid to watch and make sure everything is right. I don't know what's going on, but if I don't do that, the clips and music don't sync up an it throws everything off. Yay for WMM!!! NOT!!!

But enough whining. I'm just happy to be vidding again. I haven't done a one of these in a while and I've forgotten how much fun it is, despite the crappy program I have to work with. Since I'm starting early this time, I hope I have some vids for the vid show at Media West next year.
thursday
I recently got the first two seasons of Torchwood on DVD. I've only watched the first two episodes of the first season so far, but I'm totally hooked. Seriously, why the heck did I wait this long to start watching this show?!?!? It's fun, exciting, different, and so much better than most US tv shows. I like the whole cast, but particularly John Barrowman and spent way too much time on YouTube last night looking for and watching videos of him. I also got his autobiography, Anything Goes, from the library yesterday. I'm already a little over half way done reading it. I was thinking that I should go and find some places on the internet to chat with other fans, but this is one time that I really don't want to read spoilers. I don't think it's going to take me long to catch up as excited as I am about this, so it would probably be best to watch now, chat later. In the meantime, I'll just have to be satisfied with watching more episodes and making icons, which I plan to do ASAP.

Hmmm, I wonder if my boss would consider needing to watch Torchwood an acceptable excuse for calling off work. Probably not. Damn, sometimes it sucks having to be a responsible adult. LOL

Please excuse me, I need to vent...

FOR PETE'S SAKE PEOPLE, GET OVER IT!!! IT'S JUST A TV SHOW!!!

Sorry. I'm done now. I love fandom and most of the people I've met through various fandoms, but sometimes the small minority that can't televison from reality just drive me totally up the frickin' wall.

I found some good quality screencaps for the new Star Trek movie, so I've gone on an icon making binge. This one is my favorite so far. I've got more ideas. I'll post more late when I have time, if anyone is interested. Actually, I'll post them even if no one else is interested, but you know what I mean. LOL

Yay for Green Day!!!

I went to the Green Day concert last night and it was awesome!!! I had a ton of fun, even though my throat and chest still hurt from singing and screaming so much.

Hmm, I know there was more I was going to say about it, but I'm drawing a blank. I'm barely functional or coherent at the moment. I got home late and then woke up early and couldn't go back to sleep because I'm still really wound up about the whole thing. I'm just glad I don't have to work until one today. That worked out really well.

Is it Wednesday yet?

green day
I'm very excited and really looking forward to tomorrow. I'm going to see Green Day!!! I've been a fan of theirs ever since their first album came out in 1994, but this will be the first time I've ever seen them live. There's only one response that I think fits in this particular situation.

SQUEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

One more day of work, then VACATION!!

I'm going to Baltimore for Shore Leave again this year. I'm really looking forward to it. I haven't been to a con, well a con with actor guests anyway, since last year's Shore Leave. Jason Mamoa and Rachel Luttrell are both going to be there. I've never seen either of them in person before, so I can get a couple more autographs for my Stargate scrapbook. Sweet!

All I have to do now is make it through one more day of work, then I'll be on my way Thursday morning!
